Clem Clambeau - panel1.JPG

Rick Grimes is a one-of-a-kind comic book artist and writer who from 1976 to 1996 contributed various unique stories to both adult and underground comic book publications, including: DR. WIRTHAM'S COMIX & STORIES, THE ONE, TABOO, HYENA, RARE BIT FIENDS, HEAVY METAL, and PARAPHILIA among various others.

Grimes' unique oddball universe is rich with its own peculiar ecologies and rhythms, oneiric beings, and erotic grotesques, influenced (both consciously and subconsciously) by a vast array of subjects, including: the works of: Jay Ward, Chester Gould, Carl Barks, Paul Murry, Virgil Partch, Basil Wolverton, Ed Roth, The Three Stooges, E. C. Segar, Roger Corman, John Waters, David Lynch, Max Ernst, Dr. Seuss, Walt Kelly, Frank Jacobs, W.C. Fields, Captain Beefheart (Don Van Vliet), Alain Robbe-Grillet, Samuel Beckett, Harry Crews, Flannery O'Connor, Kurt Vonnegut, Jr., Richard Brautigan, and Donald Barthelme to name a few...

Over the last 30 years or so, Rick's work appeared in various magazine and book publications alongside that of writers/artists, including: Stephen R. Bissette, Rick Veitch, John Totleben, Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman, Michael Zulli, Jean 'Moebius' Giraud, S. Clay Wilson, Alejandro Jodorowsky, Clive Barker, Douglas E. Winter, Charles Lang, David Lloyd, Chet Williamson, Tim Truman, Eddie Campbell, Tim Lucas, Mike Hoffman, Jeff Nicholson, and Robert Williams among many others.

On this non-profit unofficial fan site you will find the following sections/pages: regularly updated (when possible) NEWS; a comprehensive BIOGRAPHY and BIBLIOGRAPHY; four PUBLISHED WORKS art galleries; COMMENTS (feat. memories/stories/comments from fellow artists and fans); OTHER WORKS (ie unpublished or undeveloped strips/stories/art);  INFLUENCES; RECOMMENDED Comix Artists and Writers, Painters, Authors, Film & Television, and Musicians that is very much worth checking out; and finally a page for assorted LINKS. I, Ryan H., would like to thank everyone who has helped out with supplying me with information regarding Rick's work over the last 30 odd years, in particular Stephen R. Bissette, Rick Veitch, Larry Loc, and most importantly, the man himself - Rick Grimes. Others who I must also thank is featured on the THANKS/DISCLAIMER page. Enjoy the site!!!

"Rick Grimes - I always loved his stuff, which was so far out it came back around and hits you from behind!" -- Rick Veitch (September 2003).
